Allow me to tell you a tactile story, one of the moundbuilders of ancient America. In 2024, I went on a dream-come-true roadtrip to visit some of the oldest architectural sites of the united states. Why? To practice deep listening at these under-appreciated beacons of storied terrain, and to trace the presence, placement, and span of the yaupon holly, indigenous lily & lotus, nicotiana spp., and more!

During my time working as a professional chocolatier, I became obsessed with studying archeological evidence of cacao trading into the modern united states, and there learned about our other theobromine-containing plant, Yaupon! Long story shorter, I've been fascinated by it's history and chemistry, and wanted to meet it firsthand in it's terrain!
