Behold, the beauty and bounty that is cactus medicine. Often overlooked because of their rough exterior, cacti are a champion of desert landscapes, standing firm with resilience in the face of almost any situation.

There are so many reasons to love cacti. They are storytellers of earths climate and geologic changes, the migration of peoples, and so much more. They are a subsistence food all over the world for humans and non-human critters alike, building materials for earthen homes, a fiber source for weaving… And of course, they make exquisite medicine, from blood sugar balancers, to first-aide treatment, to deeply spirit-moving healers. And, they speak great energetic poetry about the nature of protection, humbleness, and fortitude.

In this class, we will explore the full spectrum of ethnobotany, history, and medicine ways- both physiological and energetic- that some of our favorites offer : Nopal/Prickly Pear (Opuntia), Saguaro, Barrel Cactus, Cereus, Lophophora, Trichocereus, and more. Whether you are located here in the southwest, or across Turtle Island, I can guarantee there is a cactus near you, or waiting to be planted in your vicinity!
